My inquiries into cultivated and wild growth stem from several converging interests; from the clash between fantasy’s perfection and the messiness of reality to the tension between cultivated fruits and vegetables and the concurrent growth of weeds. In Weeds actual plants (such dock, creeping charlie, and lamb’s quarter) are dipped in black slip and fired. This piece explores the inequities of the weeds that are no less particular, beautiful or edible for being unwanted.
