In Spill series Tsehai Johnson explores the powerful effect of groups of tableware coupled with the small disorders of everyday life. Serving as initial influence, the tableware is not independent of time and situation but rather belongs to the mundane moments of daily life. These fluid moments reveal varied actions, drifting meanings, attachments and situations. While defined by daily use and identity, the work finds the source of it’s meaning outside the original inspiration.
