In Field series I have utilized the framework of ornamental pattern to investigate overlaps and relationships that explore boundaries between labor and pleasure and between order and disorder.  Driving this inquiry are several converging interests, from the clash between fantasy’s perfection and the messiness of reality, the close juxtaposition of labor and pleasure in domestic space, and finally an exploration of how the logic and organizing principles of pattern and ornament to can create order out of chaos.  The porcelain and mixed material wallpaper (Field series, 2004-2007) invites closer inspection to reveal a mundane tangibility in its references to the tools of daily life.
