Field Pattern #2
Tsehai Johnson created Field Pattern specifically for the walls of the remodeled Byron Rogers Federal Building located in downtown Denver, CO. The work was inspired by the angled, lozenge shape of the floor plan of the building and by geometric patterns that have reoccurred for centuries. This piece has both the stability of repeated patterning and the fluidity of changing scale, color and overall form. The viewer explores shifting experiences as the patterns change from thick to thin relief along with tonal fluidity in the transitions of color within the pattern.
