Exploding Carpet utilizes the framework of an ornamental carpet that simultaneously attracts and repels.  The patterned carpet invites the viewer only to reveal an explosion of liquid.  Is it a beautiful patterned carpet or a chaotic mess in need of cleaning?   The work allows the viewer entry into the perimeter because the piece becomes larger, more imposing and chaotic toward the middle thus discouraging complete exploration.  Exploding Carpet thrives on a multiplicity of readings threading the literal to the abstract, the traditional with the innovative, and the pleasurable with the tedious.
